Q: Who are my hosts at Coral Reef Guesthouse?
A: Frank Hagerty and Bruce Simpson are delighted to welcome you to Fort Lauderdale.
Q: What is your clothing-optional policy?
A: All areas are clothing-optional, except the office and our breakfast room.
Q: What is the Coral Reef Guesthouse property like?
A: Our Florida-tropical property consists of three, white-roofed pavilions: an office/kitchen structure, and two single-story guestroom buildings with continuous, covered front porches. All buildings cloister around a sunny, paver-brick courtyard with a roomy free-form pool and twelve-man Jacuzzi. Greenery, palms, and flowers abound. Usually, orchids are in bloom, too.We offer eight guestrooms, ranging from Standard to an Elite Suite with it's own, private yard. Most rooms open onto the shaded porches along the courtyard and pool, offering cross ventilation as the season permits.
Q: Who Stays at Coral Reef?
A: Our clientele is a mix of professional gay males who drive up from Miami or travel all the way from Burgundy (France). They hail from Atlanta, New York, California, and Quebec, as well as points further and in-between. Visitors range in age from late-20s to 60-something, most falling somewhere in the middle.
Q: How close are you to the beach and the airport?
A: Fort Lauderdale's famous, miles-long, public beach lies about a 5 minute drive due east of us. Sebastian Street, the gay beach, is another 5 minutes south along Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard. Or, take a romantic sunset stroll over "beachside," along beautiful Sunrise Boulevard and across the boat-filled Intracoastal Waterway. (About 15 minutes by foot.) We also offer a limited number of complimentary bicycles for getting around.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is 7 miles south – 15 to 20 minutes depending on time of day, and about a $25 cab ride. Miami International Airport is 30 miles south - 40 to 55 minutes, and about $70 by cab.
Q: Do you have a pool and Jacuzzi?
A: Our beautiful, large, free-form heated pool nestles together with a generous, pristine, twelve-man Jacuzzi, under full sunshine and starlight. Clothing is always optional
Q: How far are you from nightlife and entertainment?
A: All of Fort Lauderdale's gay nightlife is within a 5 to 15-minute drive from the Coral Reef Guesthouse. So are theaters, restaurants of all types, coffee bars, museums, historic sights, Hugh Taylor Birch State Recreation Area, The Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and the scene on Las Olas. Even closer, and within walking distance, are the Sunrise Harbor Shops, Gateway Shopping Center with several popular restaurants, and the Galleria Mall, with top-notch department stores and a variety of eateries.
Miami Beach is less than an hour's drive, and Palm Beach, about an hour and fifteen minutes.
Q: Do you have parking?
A: Yes, a number of privately designated spots are available directly in front of the guesthouse, off the street.
Q: Do you serve meals?
A: We serve a generous, extended continental breakfast every morning and offer midday snacks from our small, pool-facing kitchen facilities. There's also coffee, cold beverages, and a microwave. We do not provide hot-meal service. However, Studio Suites and the Elite Suite have their own, full kitchens.
Q: Is there computer access?
A: We have a 24-hour guest internet computer station by our kitchen facilities, with printer access. (Yes! You can print your boarding passes in advance!) Also, wireless service covers the pool courtyard and poolside rooms.
Q: Is there Fax and private phone service?
A: Each room has a phone and data port with free local calling and voicemail. Guests can receive phone calls provided your caller knows your 3 digit room number. During business hours, guests may send and receive faxes through the office.
Q: Do you allow pets?
A: We do love animals, but regretfully cannot accept pets as guests.
Q: What is your smoking policy?
A: All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted only in designated outside areas.
Q: What is Stingray?
A: See an entirely different Fort Lauderdale from the city's beautiful waterways on Stingray, our own, private, 58-foot, Vintage Wooden Cruiser. Gorgeous waterfront estates and the dramatic downtown skyline are just a few of the delightful sights. (Weekends, weather and schedule permitting. Complimentary.)
Q: Can you help us celebrate a special occasion?
A: We'd love to reserve a romantic dinner for you or set up flowers and champagne in your room, for your arrival or during your stay! Let us know what you have in mind. Specific details and appropriate lead time are appreciated, and additional fees may apply, depending on services requested. Come celebrate with us!
